Welcome to Our Class Blog!

Hello 2nd grade parents!

Welcome back to school and welcome to our class blog! This blog is dedicated to language arts (for both classes) and religion/writing for my homeroom. I will post weekly updates, pictures, spelling words, and a "peek at the week." Be sure to check on Sunday nights for a new post! Also be sure to check Mrs. Briggs blog at www.briggsml.blogspot.com for math/science/social studies updates and pictures.

Our school year has gotten off to a great start. We have an AMAZING group of second graders. They are so sweet, smart and eager to learn. I can already tell it is going to be a fantastic year. We will cover everything at Open House on Thursday, August 27th (remember this is a mandatory meeting, please be there!), but until then, here are a few important reminders:

-School starts promptly at 7:50am. We switch classes right after announcements, so it is very important for your child to be on time.

- PE for Mrs. Rush's class is on Tuesdays

- Please refer to the peanut-free snack list that was sent home last week when it is your turn to bring snack. We have 21 students.

- Your child's assignment book needs to be signed each night.

- Please check your email and print/sign the sheet that allows your child to use technology. We will start using the iPads/ computers this week and your child will not be able to participate until I have received that form! Please don't make me hunt you down :)

- I also need the student handbook form signed and returned as well. When reviewing the handbook with your child, be sure to emphasize the behavior section and the uniform policies. Administration is really cracking down this year on the uniforms- please make sure your child is wearing the correct socks/shoes.

The first few days of school are always dedicated to rules, routines, procedures and getting to know each other better. We had fun this past week sharing our brown bags from home, playing games and setting goals for the year. We will begin our first week of formal instruction tomorrow!
